1. Introduction

Many car makers introduce their new models in late summer and early fall, and this period is also when many mobile computer manufacturers offer their latest wares to the buying public. We are thus not surprised to see Acer roll out its latest model Ferrari on to the showroom floor. The legacy of high speed portable power started with the Ferrari 3200 continues with the introduction of the Ferrari 4000. This new portable is a good looking, well designed notebook computer with plenty of power for office and high end graphics applications.

We reviewed the Acer Ferrari 3200 a little more than a year ago. Painted entirely in Ferrari red and sporting the distinctive Ferrari crest, the 3200 was an impressive system on the outside, and it had great hardware under the hood as well. It isn't the top in terms of performance today but it is definitely still a good notebook.
